Penny has her 3rd lot of jabs today to immunise her against Hib, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Whooping Cough, Polio, Pneumococcal & Meningitis C. I wasn't looking forward to it as it at all. As a matter of fact, I forgot all about her appointment till I received a reminder yesterday afternoon.
Penny didn't like her first two jabs as she cried her both time. She didn't wail her head of or anything but she still cried out when she got stabbed with the needles. On both occasion she bled a little, had a little cry then fell asleep. She didn't get any temperature or side effect, but that doesn't make me taking her to her 3rd jab any easier.
I was happy when Nicole said she would go with me. We waited a few minutes for her to be called and I kept myself distracted while waiting. When we got into the the nurses' room, armed with Penny's plug (I mean dummy) in one hand and holding on to her firmly with the other hand I tried to distract her and no look when the nurse stabbed Penny. It was over in a flash but Penny wasn't pleased. She cried and cried until I managed to turn her and have her facing me.
I was glad that Nicole was there to push the pram while I held Penny to my chest. Since birth, chest-to-chest with Penny always calmed her down. She still has a little tears and a little sob when we left the clinic, crossed the road and got into co-op to do some retail therapy (for me). She was a lot better by the time we left the store and she fell asleep almost immediately once I put her into her pram. She was so tired / groggy from the jab, she slept all the way home despite mummy being a bad driver with her pram and she stayed asleep in her pram for a good 30 mins after we got home! Well done Penny for being a brave girl!
